When I started in Quality many years ago, I had no idea what I was doing. I felt insecure and unproductive because I didn’t know have the skills, knowledge and information to solve problems, manage projects and make high quality decisions.
I had a lot of potential, but I wasn’t sure how to unlock that potential and become the best Quality Engineering I could, and that’s when I found out about the CQE Certification.
My reputation grew as I learned the skills and tools that I needed to solve problems, lead teams, apply statistical tools and use risk-based thinking within the bigger picture of the Quality Management System. Best of all, my career and my income grew as I learned these skills! Oh, and I’ve since passed the CQE Exam three times.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
THE KNOWLEDGE, TOOLS AND SKILLS TO PASS THE CQE EXAM
The CQE Body of Knowledge has 7 major pillars, which are included in this course, and you’ll learn all about:
- Mastering Statistics. This is the most difficult topic on the exam, and it also has the most questions (25 out of 160). So, we open the course by focusing on the most important topic, Statistics. You’ll gain a deeper understanding and ability to apply such tools as Design of Experiments, Process Capability, Statistical Process Control, Linear Regression, Hypothesis Testing, ANOVA Analysis, Probability and much more!
- How to Use Continuous Improvement Tools. I’ll teach you all of the most important and relevant continuous improvement tools such as the 7 Quality Control Tools and the 7 Management and Planning Tools. Then, I’ll show you have to use the 2 most popular tools in continuous improvement, Six Sigma and Lean. Lastly, we wrap up with the ever-important CAPA process.
- The Keys to Product and Process Design. This is where Quality starts, when you learn all of the keys and best practices around designing a product, process or service. This includes identifying Critical to Quality Attributes, through the Design Input / Review / Output process and the creation of Technical Drawings, all the way through the most useful design optimization tools like DfSS, Robust Design, and DfX. We wrap up this pillar with Design Verification and Validation along with Reliability Engineering.
- Requirements for Product and Process Control. Once you design a product, and you go into production, it’s time to control that product and process. I’ll teach you how to use the most common control tools such as the Control Plan, Material Control and Acceptance Sampling. We then move into the measurement and testing topics such as Metrology, and Measurement System Analysis (Gauge R&R)
- An in depth look at the Quality System. Here we cover all of the critical elements of the quality system, including Documentation, Auditing, Training, the Cost of Quality, and the ever-important ISO 9001 Quality Standard.
- All About Management and Leadership. Learn all of the important topics that are needed to lead and facilitate as a Quality Engineer. This section starts with the history of quality and the guru’s who have made major contributions to the field of quality. Then, learn about the most effective implementation techniques for the Quality Management system, along with the communication, facilitation and leadership skills you’ll need to make work happen.Here is where we also cover the ever-important topic of supplier management.
- Last, but not least, Risk Management. This is the newest addition to the CQE Body of Knowledge and we have saved the best for last. Risk Management is the all-encompassing topic that is intertwined into the entire Quality Process. Here we cover the 3 major topics, Risk Oversight, Risk Management and Risk Control that are needed to properly Identify, assess, and mitigate risks for your customers.

THIS COURSE WAS CREATED WITH NON-ENGINEERS IN MIND
Becoming a CQE does not require that you start out with an engineering degree itself. Truth be told, those of you who are engineers will have a leg up on some of the more complex statistics.
However, I created the statistics material under the assumption that you’re NOT already an engineer!
